Meet Melissa Graves
LSS/NCA Executive Director

Melissa Graves is the Executive Director of Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSS/NCA). Prior to serving as Executive Director, she served as LSS/NCA‘s Director of Development. Ms. Graves earned a Master‘s of Public Administration from George Mason University and has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and development at social service and human service agencies in the region. Ms. Graves has served as President of the DC Chapter of Thrivent Financial as well as numerous other Boards and volunteer activities.

From the Executive Director

Service is a cornerstone of the Lutheran faith. In fact, one in 50 Americans is touched by a Lutheran organization each year. For more than 90 years Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area has been serving our neighbors in need as a way of expressing God‘s love.

Each year LSS/NCA is privileged to walk with our neighbors as they rebuild their lives. Our services offer hope to thousands each year in the DC-metro region through Adoption and Foster Care, Disaster Response and Preparedness, Refugee and Immigrant Services, and Youth Haven Camps.

I am honored to work with a staff who truly place value on:

We invite you to view our website to learn more about us and the services we provide. Everyone deserves to be offered a beacon of hope in their darkest hour. LSS/NCA plans to be that beacon for generations to come.

In Peace and Service,
