6 Ways You Can Celebrate World Refugee Day

6 Ways You Can Celebrate World Refugee Day

1. Attend the Album Release Party Friday, June 18 for singer Uyi’s Undeniable. Proceeds benefit LSS/NCA’s Refugee and Immigrant Services program (party June 18 @ 8 p.m. Liv Night Club on U St, NW)

2. Say a Prayer for the safety and courage of refugees in our community and throughout the world

3. Invite someone from LSS/NCA to host an interactive workshop at your school, congregation or community center about refugees and international human rights.

4. Host a Social for Social Justice to raise awareness and funds to help support refugees in our region – have a pot luck, watch and discuss a film such as Hotel Rwanda, And God Grew Tired of Us, or children’s movies Prince of Egypt or An American Tale.

5. Become a mentor to a refugee rebuilding his/her life in our community.

6. Make a gift to LSS/NCA’s Refugee and Immigrant Services program to benefit the RIS Housing Fund.
